Copyright & DMCA policy
Updated 28 September 2026. QuietScribe is a product of Digital It Up. We respect the intellectual-property rights of others and expect our users to do the same. This page explains how to report claimed copyright infringement under the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA, 17 U.S.C. §512) and comparable laws.
Note on how QuietScribe works: recordings, transcripts and notes are created and stored on your own Mac; QuietScribe does not host your meeting content on our servers. This policy applies to material we do host — for example this website and any content submitted to us — and to reports about the QuietScribe software itself.
Reporting claimed infringement (takedown notice)
If you believe material we host or distribute infringes a copyright you own or are authorized to act for, send a written notice to our designated agent (below) that includes all of the following, as required by 17 U.S.C. §512(c)(3):
- A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or a person authorized to act on their behalf.
- Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed (or a representative list, if multiple works).
- Identification of the material claimed to be infringing, and information reasonably sufficient to let us locate it (for example, the exact URL).
- Your contact information — name, mailing address, telephone number and email address.
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
- A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on the owner’s behalf.
Please note that under 17 U.S.C. §512(f) you may be liable for damages if you knowingly materially misrepresent that material is infringing.
Designated copyright agent
Send takedown notices to our designated agent:
Designated Agent: {{DMCA_AGENT_NAME}}
Company: Digital It Up
Email: {{DMCA_AGENT_EMAIL}}
Mailing address: {{POSTAL_ADDRESS}}
Phone: {{DMCA_AGENT_PHONE}}
Placeholders above must be completed before publishing, and the same agent must be registered with the U.S. Copyright Office to receive §512 safe-harbor protection.
Counter-notice
If your material was removed or disabled and you believe this was a mistake or misidentification, you may send a counter-notice to the designated agent that includes: your signature; identification of the removed material and its prior location; a statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed by mistake or misidentification; your name, address and phone number; and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for your address (or, if outside the U.S., any judicial district in which we may be found) and will accept service of process from the complaining party.
Repeat infringers
We may, in appropriate circumstances and at our discretion, disable or terminate access for users who are the subject of repeated infringement notices.
