Them: Can you send an estimate to revamp the site?
Me: Sure — share whatever you have on the site and the server.
Built by an agency that takes 20+ client calls a week and wasn’t willing to put a single one of them on someone else’s server. QuietScribe is the tool we made for ourselves, now opened to a small group of testers.
Everything a good note-taker does. Quietly.
No meeting bot. Local transcription and summaries. Choose where your notes go.

Built for the calls you take
Zoom, Teams, Google Meet, WhatsApp, FaceTime, Slack huddles, phone calls answered on your Mac. QuietScribe detects apps using your microphone and speaker together. Compatibility depends on the app and audio device; try your usual setup during the beta.

Two voices, told apart
Your side from the mic, theirs from the call audio. Speakers are labelled, even on speakerphone.
You decide when to record
With the default consent mode, automatic capture starts only after you choose Transcribe. Skip or leave the prompt unanswered and it does not record. You must obtain any required consent from participants.
Them [~3m]: …so the launch moves to the second week of October.
Me [~4m]: Fine — I’ll update the client tonight.
Live transcript
Updates about every minute while the call is on. Glance at it when you missed a number.
What did we agree about the quotation?
It should be itemised rather than a fixed figure — Product Planning Sync, 10 Sep.
Ask your meetings
Plain-language questions, answered with the meeting they came from. Follow-ups keep the thread. Answers are generated locally. Check important details against the recording.

Summaries that fit the meeting
Pick a style — standup, one-to-one, sales call or interview — for five to ten bullets, the decisions, and a checklist of action points with owners. Jot your own notes mid-call and the summary is built around them. Open items from every meeting collect in one running list.
Notes where you keep them
Save Markdown in a folder or Obsidian, or send notes to Apple Notes or Notion — or export any note to PDF or Word in a click. Notion uploads notes; Apple Notes and folders may sync through your chosen cloud service.
Speaks your languages
About a hundred languages, including calls that switch mid-sentence.

Phone calls too
Calls answered on your Mac via iPhone or WhatsApp are captured like any other.
Light on your Mac
Models run when transcription, summaries or meeting chat need them. Resource use and processing time vary with your Mac and meeting length.
Lives in the menu bar
Idle, recording, paused, working. Start a manual recording, process an old audio file, or run a health check from the same place.
Set up once. Take your next call.
- 1
Install
Drag QuietScribe to Applications. Setup asks for microphone and system-audio access, your name and language, and where notes should go.
- 2
Download the models once
Speech and language models (about 7 GB) download with a progress bar. They stay on your Mac. Updates or reinstalls may require another download.
- 3
Take calls as usual
Obtain any required participant consent, then choose Transcribe. After the call, QuietScribe processes the recording and saves your note.

Questions
Is it really private?
Transcription, summaries and meeting chat run on your Mac. QuietScribe does not upload meeting content for processing. License checks, model downloads and update checks use the internet. Notion receives notes you choose to send; Apple Notes and cloud-synced folders may also sync content. See the privacy policy for details.
Which apps does it work with?
Calls in apps using your microphone and speaker together, including: Zoom, Teams, Google Meet in a browser, WhatsApp, FaceTime, Slack huddles, phone calls routed through your Mac.
Do the other people know?
QuietScribe does not notify other participants or collect their consent. Obtain any consent required in your and their locations before recording. With default consent mode enabled, automatic capture requires you to choose Transcribe; Skip or no response means no recording. Manual recording starts when you request it.
What languages?
Whisper supports around a hundred languages, with accuracy varying by language and recording quality. English translation is available; mixed-language calls may need correction.
How accurate is it?
Transcripts, speaker labels and AI summaries can be wrong or incomplete. Check important details against the original audio and confirm decisions with participants.
How heavy is it?
Allow about 10 GB of free space for the app and initial models, plus space for recordings. Memory use and processing speed depend on meeting length, selected models and your Mac.
Can I use it on two Macs?
A license works on one Mac at a time. Activate it on another Mac and the first one signs out; you can move it back any time.
